Founded in 2019 by Theatre Practitioner, writer and poet, Koleka Putuma, Manyano Media is a multidisciplinary creative company established to create employment and development opportunities, as well as platforms for independent poets, playwrights, theatre directors, set designers, costume designers, lighting technicians and editors in South Africa who identify as black, queer and woman.

 

Biography :

Robyn-Lee Pretorius is a cultural producer, artist and project manager. After more than a decade of experience in the creative sector, harnessing creativity in the production of culture, she Founded With Love The Agency (WLTA) in 2020, an agency which collaborates with artists and organisations to produce creative and cultural projects and events, and offers arts administration, publishing and management services. At WLTA, we hold reverence for both the artists’ process and project’s overall goals and mission to produce the best possible outcomes. We represent Artists and organisations in Theatre, Literature, Music, Dance, Fine Art, Film, and multidisciplinary practises. WLTA, Robyn has worked on numerous local and international projects. Her clients include Foundation for Human Rights, Spotify, UN Global, Wellcome, Darkroom Contemporary, Manyano Media and more. When not producing, Robyn loves travelling, listening to music and collecting records, reading, visiting art galleries, fine dining, exploring and recharging in nature.

    Even in the digital space, the public is not experienced in the same way by everybody:Racially distorted algorithms and search results, language translation programs that are subject to bias or stereotypes and much more. Intersectional feminist net politics criticizes these discriminatory structures and creates awareness and sensitization for the existing unequal conditions in the digital space, which are closely intertwined with real life. The panel discussion deals with the question of creating a counter-public. In recent years, hashtags and blogs in particular have proven to be effective tools for feminist actors to use digital media. The focus lies also on large areas of feminist internet politics, such as access to the internet, access to content, copyright and data protection. In the panel discussion international experts and activists will discuss how these existing structures can be deconstructed and replaced by new, progressive and equal systems.
